Sustainable reduction of the carbon footprint

Our focus

ept Scope3 43
Our data shows that for products such as the One27 knife rail, only about 19% of CO₂ emissions result from our direct manufacturing processes. The majority—around 81%—is attributable to the extraction and processing of raw materials, particularly copper alloys and the precious metals used in electroplating (gold, palladium-nickel).

Our current focus encompasses all indirect emissions generated along the value chain. We know that only by understanding the emissions associated with raw materials can we accurately assess the carbon footprint of a final product. In close collaboration with our suppliers, we have developed precise calculation tools to determine the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) of our connectors.

Upon request, we can provide you with the carbon footprint for the items you purchase:

Reducing raw material usage through miniaturization

Miniaturisierung Darstellung DIN vs Zero8
The most effective way to avoid emissions in the supply chain (Scope 3) is to reduce the amount of material used.

The effect:
Switching from a standard grid (2.54 mm) to our high-speed Zero8 solution (0.8 mm) reduces material consumption by a factor of 4.

The result:
The same performance with significantly lower resource consumption and CO₂ emissions. Learn

Alternative surface coatings

Stanzstreifen zusammen
Nickel-phosphorus as a smart alternative to gold, since gold is technically brilliant but has a significant environmental impact. Our analyses show that precious metals can account for up to 70% of a connector’s emissions.

The innovation:
Our nickel-phosphorus (NiP) coating replaces thick layers of gold without compromising functionality.

The result:
We reduce gold consumption by over 90%. This lowers the CO₂ footprint of the entire connector by around 75%.

In addition to our six in-house electroplating facilities, we operate our own electroplating laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art testing technology, enabling us to continuously develop new, sustainable coatings. Learn
