The COM Express® connector specification was developed by the PICMG for Computer-on-Modules (COM). Among other things, it specifies the module’s dimensions and the locations of the mounting holes and contact assignments relative to the carrier board.
COM Express® modules integrate the core functionalities of a bootable PC, such as the CPU, graphics processor, memory, and standard interfaces.
Plugging a COM module onto a carrier board reduces development time and costs. Furthermore, the product lifecycle can not only be extended but also upgraded by plugging newer, higher-performance COM Express® modules onto the carrier board.

Colibri high-speed connectors are ideal for high data transfer rates and are therefore suitable for any type of high-speed application. These include, for example, COM Express and Mezzanine board-to-board systems with data transfer rates for 10 Gigabit Ethernet and PCI Express Gen3.

Is an assembly aid required for processing Colibri High Speed connectors?

The design of the Colibri® receptacle provides sufficient suction surface area for the aspiration pipette and therefore does not require any additional loading aid. The
Colibri® plug can also be reliably loaded using a narrow aspiration pipette without the need for an additional loading aid.

Are PICMG Colibri® connectors also available in tape-and-reel packaging?

Yes, Colibri SMT connectors are typically supplied in tape-and-reel packaging, which enables fully automated pick-and-place processing. Upon request, they can also be supplied in tray packaging.

Are Colibri COM Express connectors UL-recognized components?

Yes, ept's Colibri® connectors are UL-recognized components in the United States and Canada.

Are ept PCB connectors RoHS-compliant?

RoHS (Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances) is the directive restricting the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
