The COM Express Standard for connector
The COM Express® specification for connectors was developed by the PICMG for computer-on-module (COM). Among other things, it specifies the dimensions the module must have and the locations of the mounting holes and contact assignments relative to the carrier board.
COM Express® modules integrate the core functionalities of a bootable PC, such as the CPU, graphics processor, RAM, and standard interfaces.
Plugging a COM module onto a carrier board reduces development time and costs. Furthermore, the product lifecycle can not only be extended but also upgraded by plugging newer, higher-performance COM Express® modules onto the carrier board.

In applications with very high data rates, the Colibri 10 Gbit/s occasionally reached its limits; however, with the new Plug 16+, USB 3.1 Gen2 signal transmissions now work without any problems.
