Our Float27 SMT PCB connectors with a 1.27 mm pitch and floating function now deliver exactly that and much more: thanks to their high tolerance compensation of up to ±0.8 mm, they are ideally suited for a wide range of applications that are subject to extremely high shock and vibration loads, require bridging of large PCB spacing, and are also processed automatically. By combining the Float27 header with the various designs of the One27 blade connectors and a large overlap area, virtually any PCB spacing from 26.1 to 30.7 mm can be achieved. We guarantee optimal processability of the SMT PCB connectors through a coplanarity tolerance of just 0.1 mm. Additionally, maximum robustness is ensured by the double-prong spring contact.

In what ways can PCBs be connected to each other with the Float27 SMT connectors?
In combination with the various male connectors from the One27 connector family, PCB connections can be realized in parallel and right-angled arrangements.
How can circuit boards be connected to one another using Float27 SMT connectors?
The Float27 connector system is processed using surface mount technology (SMT) and therefore soldered directly onto PCBs. Positioning pins on the underside of the Float27 connectors guarantee exact positioning on the PCB. ept also ensures a coplanarity of the contacts of max. 0.1 mm to guarantee reliable soldering during processing.
What PCB distances are possible using Float27 connectors?
With the Float27 PCB connectors, a minimum PCB spacing of 26.1 mm and a maximum PCB spacing of 30.70 mm can be realized. This is made possible by the high over-mating range of 2.4 mm. Male and female connectors can therefore be pulled apart by up to 1.5 mm and continue to guarantee optimum and reliable contacting.

Why is the connection between the male and female connectors for the Float27 particularly reliable?
With Float27 connectors, contact is made via a double-leg spring contact that surrounds the contact pin of the male connector. In addition, a connection is made via the smooth, rolled surface of the spring contact. This prevents abrasion of the contact surface and chip formation when plugging in the Float27 connectors.

What applications are suited for using Float27 PCB connectors?
Float27 connectors are suitable for all applications with high shock and vibration loads. The tolerance compensation via the meander relieves the soldering area, reduces stress on the solder joint and ensures low displacement forces. The Float27 connectors are also suitable for an automated assembly process or if several connectors are to be soldered on one PCB. Manufacturing tolerances of up to ± 0.8mm are compensated by the floating function.
What tolerances do Float27 PCB connectors compensate for?
The Float27 connectors enable a high level of tolerance compensation. An offset tolerance of ± 0.8 mm in the longitudinal and transverse axes is permitted when mating male and female connectors and when mated. In addition, a wipe lenght of up to 2.4 mm provides this high tolerance compensation in the Z-direction as well.
Is it possible to use automatic optical inspection (AOI) for the soldering of the Float27 SMT connectors on the PCBs?
Yes, the contact design of the Float27 connectors is designed for automatic optical inspection after soldering. The contacts of the Float27 PCB connectors are offset so that the automatic optical inspection can be carried out from one side.
